Privacy Policy
FriendQuest ("we", "us") makes Holdout, a game for iPhone, iPad and Android. This policy explains what information the game uses, why, and the choices you have.
The short version
- You can play as a guest without an account. Your progress then stays on your device.
- If you sign in, we save your progress in the cloud so it follows you to your other devices.
- Ads only appear when you choose to watch one for a reward.
- Purchases are handled by Apple or Google. We never see your payment details.
- We don't sell your personal information.
What we collect and why
Game progress. Your base, survivors, resources and settings. It is stored on your device and, if you sign in, in our cloud database (Google Firebase / Cloud Firestore, hosted in the United States) so you can keep playing on another device.
Account information (only if you sign in). From the sign-in service you choose (Google, Apple, Google Play Games or Game Center): an account identifier and, when the service provides them, your name, email address and profile picture. We use it only to find your cloud save and show who is signed in.
Purchases. Apple or Google processes every payment. We receive a confirmation of what was bought (the product and a transaction identifier) so we can deliver it and restore it later.
Ads (only when you choose to watch one). Rewarded ads are shown by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect your device's advertising identifier, your IP address and information about the ad and your interaction with it, to show and measure ads and to prevent fraud. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland we ask for your consent before ads can be personalized, and on iPhone and iPad we ask for permission before any tracking (App Tracking Transparency). You can change these choices at any time in the game or in your device settings. Learn more in Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
Technical information. Our hosting and service providers may keep short-lived technical logs (such as IP address, device type and error details) for security and to keep the game running.
We don't collect your precise location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera.
Who we share it with
Only with the services that run the game for us: Google Firebase and Google Cloud (sign-in, cloud saves, hosting), Google AdMob (ads), Apple and Google (app stores and payments), and Game Center or Google Play Games if you use them to sign in. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
Children
Holdout is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
How long we keep it
Cloud saves are kept while your account exists. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your account and cloud saves within 30 days. Progress stored on your device stays there until you delete it or uninstall the game.
Your choices and rights
- Play without signing in.
- Start over at any time: in the game's menu, Start a new game erases your save for that mode.
- Delete your account and cloud data: see Delete your account.
- Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU and UK, or the CCPA in California) you can ask to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your data, or object to some uses of it. Contact us and we will answer within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date above.
